Mighty ruin of a castle on a narrow rocky promontory, enclosed on three sides by the meanders of the river Vlatva. The Castle, founded in the middle of the 14th century, had an outer ward and a settlement below it. Tall walls of the palaces, gateways and fortifications have survived. In close vicinity, on another promontory above the river Vltava, is a Celtic oppidum from the 1st century B.C., one of the largest and most important in the country. A system of walls and gates survive.
